Hello! Welcome to a special Edge of Eternities article! I had a very busy week with kids at home, the physical exam to qualify for the firefighter academy, and some other things, so I haven’t been able to play nearly as much Magic as I would like. So for this article I’m including two decks that I’ve only just started testing out along with a few matches for both. Stay tuned for more!
First up should surprise exactly no one…it’s Gruul Rumble Dragons with Nova Hellkite!

Is the warp mechanic as good as I think it is? Well, Nova Hellkite was impressive in more than one game, even if Dragons are still slow compared to the format.

Match 2 vs. Eldrazi Tron
Match 3 vs. Goryo’s Vengeance
Overall Record: 1-2
Stay tuned for more Nova Hellkite! The deck was a lot of fun, even though I’m rusty playing it. I can’t wait to get back into the groove of it.

I originally planned on testing out my Mono Green Landfall deck with the addition of Tannuk, Memorial Ensign, but then I got crushed by a Cosmogoyf deck running Serum Powder…you can watch a clip of it here.
While my opponent’s deck was all in on making Cosmogoyf as large as possible as fast as possible, playing cards like Demonic Bargain to grow it, Ignoble Hierarch to ramp into it with Thoughtseize to clear the way, and Green Sun’s Zenith to find it, I wanted to go a different direction.
I’ve loved playing Psychic Frog and Abhorrent Oculus over the past year and Cosmogoyf is a natural fit with these two powerhouses. Not only do they grow our Cosmogoyf, but they are game-ending threats all by themselves. I’ll write more about this deck for Keeping Modern Janky, but for now, enjoy the game play! And shout-out to kyon1024 for giving me the Cosmogoyf–Serum Powder idea!
Match 1 vs. Living End
Match 2 vs. Mill
Match 3 vs. Ad Nauseam
Overall Record: 2-1
Conclusion
Unfortunately, that’s all I could manage this week. I’m pretty bummed I couldn’t play more, as both of these decks were a ton of fun, albeit in very different ways. And I still have at least two other decks I want to try out: Mono Greenish Landfall, as I mentioned, and an Affinity deck with Weapons Manufacturing.
Stay tuned for more. There’s a chance I’ll get some games in tomorrow (Friday).
As always, thanks for watching and reading!
