September is my favorite month. First, it marks the beginning of Fall, my favorite time of year. Second, it’s my birthday month! Of course, birthdays don’t mean what they used to now that I’m no longer so young, but still, it’s a happy month. And third, now that I’m a father, September is the first full month after summer that the kids are in school. This, too, is bittersweet, but after a long summer of less time to work than I’d like, it’s nice to have 5-6 hours a day in which I can work on this site.
I’m still working part-time, however, so it’s a rare week that I can devote the full 25 hours I get off from parenting to creating content, but I’m hoping to devote between 10 and 15 hours to it each week.
On to September’s schedule!
I’m kind of on the fence about what decks to play. Being my birthday and all, I think it’s only appropriate to give myself a present…in the form of playing nothing but Dragon decks all month! There is some logic to running back decks I’ve played already (with some updates, of course!), as both Modern and Pioneer saw format-changing bans last week. But, I also still have several cards I want to test out in Modern and Pioneer that aren’t Dragons.
Decisions, decisions…
So, let’s just accept this month’s schedule with some flexibility and understanding. Things may change.
Schedule
September 6th – Dragons in Modern – Gruul Dragons post Grief and Nadu, Winged Wisdom
September 13th – Commander – Mono Red Dragons with Inferno of the Star Mounts
September 20th – Pioneer Curious – Gruul Dragons post Amalia Benavides Aguirre and Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord
September 27th – Fiction – Chapters 23 and 24 of The Podkind. Charleston continues his training with his new shipmates.
The Usual Blurb
My goal is to publish an article between Wednesday and Friday every week. I am a stay-at-home dad of three with a part-time job, though, so there may be weeks that life gets in the way. I’ll rotate the topics each week in the following order: Modern-Commander-Pioneer-Fiction. Whenever possible, I’ll publish articles and videos when they’re ready. Now that I am making videos, I hope to upload gameplay of each of the Modern decks I’ve already written about, as well as new ones I’m testing. For these reasons, there will be weeks when more than one article and/or video gets posted. Published articles are pretty time-intensive, hence the once-a-week-schedule, but the matches I play along the way will get posted to my YouTube channel as I go. Be sure to check there if you’re looking for a match but it isn’t yet on the site.
If there is a topic you want me to write about, a deck you want me to try out, or if you want less of one thing and more of another, let me know in the comments or email me: johnnycycles16@gmail.com. If you enjoy the site, please let your friends know via word of mouth or social media or messenger pigeon, if that’s your preference. This is a new site that needs all the clicks it can get! Also, be sure to check out my Facebook page and YouTube Channel!
Thanks for reading and watching, subscribing and sharing!
